Classroom Moments

Our Mandarin class is one of the children’s favorite activities! During this immersive learning time, children are surrounded by Mandarin throughout the entire activity, creating a rich and natural language environment.
As part of our Winter theme, the children explored winter vocabulary in Mandarin. This week, we focused on the words beanie 冬帽 and winter gloves 手襪/手套 through two hands-on art activities that connected language learning with creative expression.
For the beanie (冬帽) activity, children decorated their own winter hats using colorful paper squares. They carefully selected their favorite colors, applied glue, and placed each piece onto the hat outline. As they peeled, pressed, and stuck the small pieces, they strengthened their fine motor skills. They also practiced hand eye coordination and concentration while deciding where each color should go.
For the winter gloves (手襪/手套) activity, children used dot markers to decorate the gloves. They explored patterns, color choices, and spacing while strengthening finger control and hand muscles. Some children enjoyed creating scattered colorful dots, while others carefully filled specific sections of the gloves.
Learning Highlights
Through hands-on art, conversation, and repetition, children build confidence while developing Mandarin vocabulary and speaking skills in a fun and engaging way. We love seeing them learn, create, and communicate all in Mandarin.
